Minimise Your Risk, the first training provider to be registered with the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) has delivered the first periodic training course to drivers at Bibby’s of Ingleton on the first day of the new Driver CPC periodic training, Wednesday 10th September 2008. The ‘Foundation course’ covered many aspects of a driver’s role and responsibilities and started with a highway theory quiz. Alec Horner, MD of Minimise Your Risk said, ‘Bibby’s drivers were very switched on and did very well on this exercise.’ Everyone received an up to date copy of the highway code. The day then progressed through insurance and accident issues; health & safety; risk assessments; road risk issues, such as fatigue and mobile phones, vehicle emergencies and walk round checks. After lunch manual handling was covered, including a practical exercise with suitcases and a coach! The 7 hour course ended with drugs and alcohol awareness, which was very well received and included a practical demonstration with a breathalyser and a double whiskey!Minimise Your Risk has also recently provided Bibby’s with a complete Road Risk Safety Management Programme and suite of risk assessments for the workshops, offices and on-road activities, along with a drugs and alcohol policy. Peter Bibby said "I was very pleased with how the day went and everyone found it interesting, informative and fun! I have no hesitation in recommending Minimise Your Risk to other operators for driver CPC periodic training and I will asking Alec back to carry the remaining periodic training over each of the next 5 years". |
